We have been longing for it so much over the holidays. And now, after a little delay, it has finally arrived: Winter! Germany is covered in snow. It has been bitterly cold over the last few days. It's not just us humans who are now particularly susceptible to flu and the like. Our dogs also benefit if we support their immune system during the dark season. That's why today we're giving you a fully nutritious

vegan recipe for dogs

that strengthens the immune system and gives pathogens no chance.

Shopping list

  • Sweet potatoes
  • Red lentils
  • Organic pea protein powder (80% protein)
  • Fruit and vegetables as desired - colorful mix -> we choose persimmon, apple, nashi pear, fennel, zucchini, carrots, lettuce and cucumber
  • oil
  • mineral mixture ALL-IN VELUXE
  • rosehip powder
  • high-quality oil e.g. "Dr. E.g. "Dr. Budwig Omega-3 DHA with algae oil"

The quantities of a full daily ration are as follows (please note that the ingredients have been adjusted to our

ALL-IN VELUXE ):

The color alone promises the ultimate vitamin kick. And that's not the only thing the

sweet potato

can boast. A substance called "caiapo" causes blood sugar levels to rise only slowly. Not only diabetics benefit from this effect.

The provision of all essential amino acids is important for a healthy organism and a functioning metabolism. Today,

red lentils

and an

organic pea protein powder

are used as a source of protein to ensure that a colorful variety of vitamins and vital substances end up in the bowl with the

fruit and vegetables

wild mix. Today we opted for persimmon, apple, nashi pear, fennel, zucchini, carrots, lettuce and cucumber. Together, this makes a super healthy vitamin bomb!!!

Of course, a high-quality

oil

(we use an omega-3 blend) and our

All-In-Velux

mineral powder should not be missing.

We also add

rosehip powder

. This is an insider tip for strengthening the immune system and is not used for diseases such as demodex mange or inflammatory processes for nothing. The reason for this is the high content of vitamin C, which is hardly achieved by any other plant.

Preparation

The sweet potatoes and lentils are cooked, as always for at least 15 minutes longer than usual for humans. This ensures that the nutrients they contain are available.

In the meantime, the other ingredients, except for the rosehip powder, are weighed out. The fruit and vegetables are finely pureed and mixed with the rest. In combination with a little water, you can form small balls - this looks nice when garnishing ?

Once the sweet potatoes and lentils are cooked, everything can be served together. It is important that the

All-In-Velux

is mixed into the cooled ingredients so as not to damage the nutrients.

Finally, the rosehip powder is sprinkled on top as a topping.

Well fortified, winter can no longer harm our pets!

Rosehip peel → please refer to the manufacturer's instructions. The powder is available in many online stores and in well-stocked pet shops.

1. Cooking lentils, pasta and vegetables

As a general rule, always double the cooking time for starchy products such as lentils, pasta, rice and co. as for us humans. this means z.B.pasta that is cooked for 10 minutes for humans must be cooked for 20 minutes for dogs in order to optimally break down the starch and make it usable for the dog. When feeding vegetables, the following applies: What you eat raw as a human can also be given raw to your dog. Everything that you have to cook yourself should also be cooked for the dog werden.Somit for example, you can feed raw:
carrots, cucumber, lettuce, zucchini, kohlrabi, pumpkin
should be cooked:
corn, fennel, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, peas, potatoes

Please make sure to wash the vegetables well, especially if they are fed with their skins on. Many dog owners also like to use organic quality. You can alternate between the different varieties as you wish. However, be aware that pulses and maize contain more calories as they contain starch.

The tolerance of vegetables is individual. Peas and beans, for example, contain oligosaccharides, which are metabolized in the intestine to form short-chain fatty acids and can lead to diarrhoea and flatulence in large quantities. Simply try out different varieties and find out what your dog likes best and what he tolerates best.

How you prepare the vegetables is up to you: You can chop, grate, blend, cook or simmer and then puree. You may be able to convince fussy animals with cooked carrots. Chopped or cooked vegetables are easier to digest. Heat the vegetables briefly and carefully to improve the retention of water-soluble vitamins. You can also add a dash of cooled cooking water to the food.

2. Add cooked or raw fruit

Fruit can also be combined and alternated - depending on what your dog can tolerate. Suitable are z.B. Apples, oranges, bananas, raspberries, strawberries, melons. You don't need to worry about the fructose they contain. This does not lead to obesity when feeding fresh fruit. For obese animals, however, the amount of banana should be kept low and dried fruit should be avoided if possible. This has a higher calorie content and can also lead to flatulence and diarrhea. Fruit seeds should be removed, as they contain hydrocyanic acid enthalten.Bitte wash the fruit thoroughly before feeding. Here too, you can let your imagination run wild when preparing the food - from finely chopped to grated or as a smoothie - anything that is fun is allowed.

MCALCULATION OF QUANTITY EXAMPLE: the calculation of the quantity is based on the different weight classes. A small dog needs z.Bmore in relation to its body weight than a large dog. You are always guided by the quantity of the highestweight class specified by us. If your z.B. weighs 6 kg, you use the weight class for 10 kg. If your dog weighs 32 kg, for example, you should use the weight class for 25 kg, as this is the highest weight class we have specified.

Here is an example calculation for you if your dog weighs z.B. weighs 32kg: The highest specified weight class is 25kg, so this is your required reference amount. A 25kg dog needs 100g chickpeas daily. Accordingly, 1kg dog in the weight class of 25kg needs -> 100g/25kg = 4g chickpeas per kg body weight. Then a 32kg dog needs 4g x 32 = 128g chickpeas/day. You do this calculation with all the ingredients. I hope we were able to help you.
