Everyone talks about this great spice and is impressed by its many health-promoting effects.

It is considered an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. It is also said to have positive effects on digestion, the cardiovascular system, dementia and diabetes. Particularly interesting: the yellow wonder tuber is said to have a preventive and inhibitory effect against cancer. This has already been proven in several studies.

The substance curcumin is responsible for all of this. Unfortunately, this is only contained in turmeric in very small quantities. Added to this is its extremely poor bioavailability. This means that the body can only absorb and ultimately process very small amounts of curcumin.

In order to still benefit from the positive effects, we increase the usability by producing the Golden Paste.

Both the coconut oil and the substance piperine contained in pepper, in combination with heating, achieve an increase in curcumin bioavailability.

For the Golden Paste we need:

  • 60g ground turmeric or 100g fresh turmeric root (Please make sure that turmeric products are suitable for dogs. Some human preparations contain polysorbate 80 and are therefore not suitable. Polysorbate 80 can trigger an allergic shock in dogs.)
  • 300ml hot water
  • 50-70ml coconut oil
  • a pinch of ground pepper

Boil the turmeric powder or the chopped root in a blender with 300ml water. Then turn the temperature down. After a few minutes on a low heat and stirring constantly, a thick paste is formed. Then add the coconut oil and pepper and stir in. The resulting golden paste will keep for about 2-3 weeks in the fridge.

Dosage:

  • Small dogs ¼ teaspoon per day
  • Medium dogs ½ teaspoon per day
  • Large dogs 1 teaspoon per day

These quantities should be divided into at least two portions (preferably mixed in with the main meal).

Good appetite
