Baking energy balls for dogs

Halloween is just around the corner, and while we're looking forward to trick-or-treating, our four-legged friend shouldn't miss out either! Of course, it's important that you make sure the ingredients are healthy. However, many dog treats on the market contain a lot of hidden sugar. That's why we have the perfect solution for you: With homemade Halloween Energy Balls, you can conjure up healthy and tasty snacks for your dog that not only provide energy, but also fit perfectly into the spooky season. The best thing about them? They are very easy to prepare and contain only dog-friendly ingredients - just like our POPS. Ideal as a reward after a walk or as a small snack between meals.

In this article, you'll find out which ingredients you need and how to proceed step by step. Let's get started!

Ingredients for your Halloween treat

A simple basic recipe for your furry friend is easy to put together. You need the following ingredients:

  • 100 g rolled oats
  • 100 g HokkaidoPumpkin
  • 50 g soft dates (or previously soaked in water)
  • 30 g courgette
  • 200 g Tetra Pak ADULT
  • 2 g cinnamon

Baking step by step

  1. Grind the oats: Put the oats in a blender and grind them until they have a fine, flour-like consistency.
  2. Cook and puree the pumpkin: Peel and dice the Hokkaido pumpkin and cook it in a pan of water until it is soft. Then process into a fine puree.
  3. Puree the dates and zucchini: If the dates are too firm, soak them in warm water beforehand, squeeze them out and then puree them together with the zucchini in a blender until smooth.
  4. Mix the ingredients: Mix the ground oats, the zucchini and date puree, the pumpkin puree, the contents of the Tetra Pak and the cinnamon in a large bowl. Knead everything well until you have a malleable mixture.
  5. Shaping the balls: Shape the mixture into about 20 small balls.
  6. Baking: Place the balls on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven at 90 °C (fan oven) for approx. 30 minutes.
  7. Cool: Remove the balls from the oven, allow to cool thoroughly - and then enjoy!
