The goal: more freshness, less waste and a better experience for you and your dog.

Why we changed the packaging

Over the past two years, we have really tried everything to optimize our paper packaging to make it last. Three-ply, four-ply - we have tested, tinkered and hoped. But the truth is: the material was simply not robust enough. The bags tore, let moisture and air through and were repeatedly the target of moth infestation. As a result, food had to be disposed of - and that is not sustainable. Paper packaging with a plastic inner coating would not have been an honest solution - it would only look sustainable, but it wouldn't be. That's why we have now switched to recyclable mono-material packaging - currently the most sustainable alternative available alongside paper when it comes to shelf life, freshness and actual recyclability.

What makes the new material better

Monomaterial means: a single type of plastic - no material mix, no sorting problem, genuine recycling. The new material is stable, hygienic and protects the food better - without compromise.

Your benefits at a glance:

✔️ Longer shelf life & More freshness
✔️ No more grease stains or tearing bags
✔️ Easy to recycle via the Yellow Bag
✔️ Reclosable thanks to zipper or Aplix closure (depending on size). This keeps the food clean & and fresh.

A word from Tessa

"We really wanted to keep the paper - we really did. But after countless tests, it was clear that it simply wasn't stable enough. If lining has to be disposed of due to tears or moisture, that's anything but sustainable. That's why switching to mono-material was the more honest solution.

We have deliberately not increased our prices in the last two years because we believe that food is not a luxury product: Dog food is not a luxury product.

Purchasing the new material is significantly more expensive. With these increased material and production costs, an adjustment was now unavoidable - but it is not profitable, but necessary in order to continue producing responsibly."

Our way forward

Green Crunch remains what it always was: Same recipe. Same quality. Same attitude. Only now in packaging that ensures this in the long term. Our other varieties - Farmers Crunch and Simply Crunch - will also follow step by step so that all VEGDOGproducts offer the same quality and shelf life. We have not taken this step lightly. But we believe that honesty and responsibility are always the most sustainable solution.
